Hi, I’m Tarek

I'm a Software Engineer II with 5 years of solid experience in Backend, Frontend, and Mobile development.

My areas of specialization include agile development practices, cloud computing and product ownership. I have a proven history of driving innovation in both startup and corporate environments, leading the development of groundbreaking B2C and B2B products.

In addition to coding, I occasionally experiment with UI design and play around with Figma, finding joy in the creative process. I also dabble in video editing and music production software.

When I'm not at my computer, I'm either playing a video game or watching a football game, both of which are my favorite forms of escape. I've also developed a new fascination with thriller films, drawn to the suspense and mystery they bring.

  • Joined their engineering team, as part of the Stilt team acquired in December 2022, to develop a new lending product.
  • Built a robust development environment which incorporated Docker, Firebase, Pub/Sub, Webhooks, Cronjobs, and Redis.
  • Managed and developed a risk model, critical to the lending product, including a rule engine for automated decision-making and integrated matching functionality, with version control. This reduced decision times to under 3 seconds, allowing for rapid borrower approval and minimizing manual intervention.

  • Contributed as an initial team member to the development of the backend codebase using Flask, MySQL, and GCP from the ground up before its launch, and also played a key role in enhancing code reliability by integrating a comprehensive testing framework (unit, integration, and end-to-end tests) into the CI/CD pipeline.
